Let’s talk about the disrespect Black Americans get from immigrant communities—because it’s louder than y’all think, and more common than we like to admit.
Every few months, a brave soul posts a video like the one I just watched. An immigrant who came here, learned the history, and realized the truth:
You’re not here because America suddenly got generous. You’re here because Black Americans fought like hell to break the system open.
We were never supposed to win. We weren’t supposed to survive Jim Crow, COINTELPRO, or the war on drugs. But we did. And because we did, folks from all over the globe now have the right to be here in ways we’re still fighting for.
But instead of acknowledgment, we get shade. Disrespect. Accusations of laziness. Claims that we "have no culture." (Y’all wearing box braids, Jordans, and playing Kendrick in the Uber, but go off.)
We don’t need unity photo ops. We need honest conversations.
We need our so-called brothers and sisters from the diaspora to stop playing superiority games.
We need folks to listen, not dismiss.
This ain’t divisive. This is boundaries.
And like the brother in the video said: "Unity without respect is impossible."
