Let me tell y’all something — the moment I saw the president giving a full-blown HGTV-style tour of the White House, pointing out brass fixtures like he was at a flea market flipping furniture, I knew we were in clown territory.
This man said, “It’s half-inch brass, very high quality,” with the same excitement a toddler has when they find a shiny rock.
And I’m just sitting there blinking like:
Since when is this… your job?
Because the last time I checked, presidential tours of décor, renovations, and seasonal setups are traditionally done by the First Lady or the White House curator team.
Think Jackie O.
Michelle Obama.
Melania’s Christmas walk-throughs.
Jill Biden’s seasonal themes.
This ain’t new.
This is literally tradition.
So why is the president out here doing home décor tours?
Why is the Commander-in-Chief suddenly the Host-in-Chief?
Let me tell you why:
Distraction is the oldest authoritarian trick in the book.
When you can’t fix the economy?
Show people shiny things.
When people are starving?
Talk about brass thickness.
When you don’t want anyone asking real questions?
Push out content that makes it feel like everything is fun, luxurious, controlled, and curated.
He’s not leading.
He’s performing.
And honestly? It’s giving “Let them eat cake” energy.
While he’s out here walking around like the White House is a Pottery Barn showroom, regular Americans are choosing between prescriptions and groceries.
But sure, let’s talk about décor.
These are the optics of someone who wants to be admired, not held accountable. Someone who loves the role, not the responsibility.
A strong leader doesn’t do home tours.
A strong leader shows results.
But if you’re running a government like a reality show…
This is right on brand.
